Scientific Meeting & Schedule here

Flood heights along the Mississippi and Missouri Rivers have been increasing for the past 150 years, even for flood events with similar amounts of water flowing through the system. There is a current scientific debate about what role river flood control and navigation structures such as levees, and large-scale urban development on the floodplains have played in this unmistakable rise in river flood levels.

The public is invited to join scientific experts, engineers, policy makers and public interest environmental representatives for a candid discussion about floods and floodplain development. Issues including the safety of developments and communities on the flood plains will be discussed, as will the wisdom of further building on the floodplains.

The event is free and open to the public.
